Whether you are granting a power of attorney or relocating to the UAE, the necessary documentation will need to be notarised, legalised (an apostille added by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office), and Consular legalisation at the UAE Embassy. Be aware that the UAE have instigated some important changes. The UAE Embassy in London has transitioned to a digital attestation service for UK documents intended for use in the United Arab Emirates. This change, effective from late February 2025, replaces traditional ink stamps and stickers with a digitally attested PDF document. The Embassy will scan your document and apply a digital attestation. And of course prices have been increased. At the time of writing, a personal document now costs 300 AED (£60 or so) to be digitally stamped or attested. Company documents are charged at 2,150 AED (£530) per document.
